Most of my family would call this irritating. My husband smiles now because he knows after 38 years, what he can get away with saying and what is going to surely be tested for accuracy. lol.
Sometimes I think this gift of prophecy (as I'll call it) is a nuisance. Not because I believe myself to be anything other than someone who pays close attention to scripture and believes what I'm reading. It is a nuisance because it is most often met with raised eyebrows, perhaps a "what did you just say" response or maybe even some ruffled feathers.....more ruffled feathers than not....unfortunately.
Now I don't know about you, but I'm not one to insist that a prophet be spoken to in a dream, see a miraculous vision or hear any audible voice. I believe the gift of prophecy on display, is someone who reads the text, believes exactly what they are reading and intersects that information with the whole of the Bible. Silence would never describe someone with the gift of prophecy even though many times, we all wish it did.....including those with this gift.
We must not be told one answer to only be told another answer elsewhere in the scriptures. If you know anyone with the gift of prophecy, this is our albatross. We have a difficult time with ambivalence or speculation with regard to biblical subjects. Uncertainty will not do. Reconciliation is a must. Hence the need, the desire and the unpolished prompting to write this blog.
Well, that was a heavy first post. Sorry for the somber mood I just created but if you are like me, this blog might just be your jam. If not, hopefully the information will be interesting anyway.
Either way, I hope above all else, that what is written here brings honor and glory to the only One whose words really matter.
